The CIIT-UWS MoU

Academic Cooperation MoU between the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) and the University of Western Sydney (UWS), Australia has finally been placed on May 5, 2009.

Dr. S. M. Junaid Zaidi, Rector CIIT signed this agreement in Islamabad which was then presented in formal signing ceremony to Professor Janice Reid, Vice Chancellor UWS.

This MoU is different since it followed already active and productive research collaboration between the two institutes. Prof. Shahid Nadeem Chohan is currently running a research project on Citrus in collaboration with Dr. Paul Halford of the UWS. Prof. Raheel Qamar is Co-PI in this research project. This collaboration has so far trained three research associates in the field of Molecular Plant Pathology and produced four publications and presentations nationally and internationally. This research has been funded by the HEC, the HEC encourages the Foreign Faculty to forge broad based links between their parent and host institutions.

A broader implementation plan is currently being prepared to further strengthen the existing collaboration and expand it to the other areas of research and teaching between the two institutes.
