World Book Day 2009 Celebrations- Book Exhibition at H-8 and Chak Shahzad Campus

COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Library Information Services will be celebrating World Book Day on 23rd April 2009.

Library Information Services will Organize two days Library Mounted Book Exhibition in the library on 23 & 24 April 2009 from 8000 to 2200 hours for the celebrations of the WORLD BOOK DAY. A good number of books on the subject areas; Architecture & Designing, Management Sciences, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecom Engineering, Nanotechnology, Meteorology, Mathematics, Physics and Leisure Reading will be displayed during the book exhibition.

The main aim of World Book Day celebrations is to encourage teaching staff and students to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with an opportunity to have a good number of new books on display in the library.

We know that 23 April: a symbolic date for world literature for on this date and in the same year of 1616, Cervantes, Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega all died. It is also the date of birth or death of other prominent authors such as Maurice Druon, K.Laxness, Vladimir Nabokov, Josep Pla and Manuel Mejía Vallejo. It is natural choice for COMSATS Institute of Information Technology's Library Information Services to pay a tribute to books and authors on this date, encouraging everyone, and in particular teaching staff, students and young people, to discover the pleasure of reading and gain a renewed respect for the irreplaceable contributions of those who have furthered the social and cultural progress of humanity.
