Queen Mary University Scholarships

 

 

Queen Mary is keen to contribute actively to the development of Pakistan’s higher education sector and is pleased to announce the creation of two Queen Mary, University of London – Pakistan Capacity Building Scholarships. Each of these scholarships will provide full tuition fees for full time MPhil/PhD study at Queen Mary in one of the following areas:

 

         Biological and Chemical Sciences

         Computer Science

         Electronic Engineering

         Engineering

         Materials

         Mathematical Sciences

         Physics

 

Eligibility

  1. Applicants must be Pakistani/AJK nationals who are currently studying or working at an institution recognised by the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan.
  2. Candidates must have a minimum of sixteen years of education (MSc, MA, MBA, ME, MS, B.E / BSc (Engg), M.B.B.S or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  3. Students with MS level qualifications and research experience will be at an advantage
  4. Candidates should have graduated within the last 2 years
  5. Candidates should have first division marks throughout their academic career
  6. Candidates must meet Queen Mary’s standard English requirements – IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
  7. Candidates must be able to support themselves financially either through personal finance or through support from their institution. UKBA guidelines state that living expenses in central London are £9,600 per year.

 

 

 

 

Research Areas

Research in Electronic Engineering focuses on three aspects of modern telecommunications: the physical layer, the network and transport layers, and the application layer.

Research at the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences is divided into a number of research groups, each of which focuses on a different area.

Research in Mathematics focuses in the following areas:

The Pure Mathematics group, embraces research and postgraduate teaching in Algebra, Combinatorics, Analysis, Geometry, Topology, Logic, and Probability. 

Statistics group conducts research in design of experiments, sequential analysis, sampling theory, and Bayesian methodology.

Applied Research group concerns with topics in Nonlinear Dynamics, Statistical Mechanics, and Probability, control of chaos, modelling of Internet traffic, or turbulence.

The Astronomy Unit  works in ground-based observations, space experiments, and theoretical work in a variety of research areas like Cosmology, Formation of Dynamics of Planetary systems, Solar and Stellar Physics, Astrophysical and Solar Plasmas and Survey Astronomy.
