Visit of Delegation from Germany and Finland to CIIT

A three member delegation comprising Mr. Wille Eerola, a Finnish entrepreneur associated with several industries and founder of leading business in telecommunication, H.E. Mr. Shahid Kamal, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Federal Republic of Germany and Mr. Manfred Hake, Executive Secretary (R), South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University, Germany visited COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) in the first week of March, 2010. The main objective of their visit was to attend the meetings and provide their professional guidance in the establishment and improvement of the newly developed Centre of Advance studies in Telecommunication (CAST) at CIIT and to enhance the collaboration activities with various institutions of Germany and Finland. The distinguished guests participated in various seminars conducted separately for the senior and junior faculty members of CIIT at Islamabad, Abbottabad and Lahore Campuses. They gave in-depth briefing on the latest developments in the area of wireless technology and other cutting edge areas to bring CIIT as a front line player in the region. H.E Mr. Shahid Kamal also gave a talk on “View from Outside” to the PhDs faculty members and senior management persons at CIIT, Islamabad. The distinguished guests also participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Library Information System Building at CIIT New Campus, Chak Shahzad Campus. Muhammad Azam Khan Swati, Chancellor CIIT and Minister for Science and Technology was the chief guest of the occasion.
