Mission Statement
To serve the advancement of teaching, learning and research within the Institutions
by providing solutions to the information needs of our clients through efficient,
effective and innovative services.
To encourage learning and scholarship by creating a learning community and promoting
information competency in its constituencies, the library:
- Create learning environments and experiences that produce competency in the use
of resources and in research methodologies;
- Designs instructional services and programmes that foster learning and collaboration
with faculty in other academic units of the CIIT;
- Offers patrons customer-oriented assistance in selecting, locating and using resources;
- Provides appropriate access to resources by all of its patrons, where their locations.
To provide access to recorded knowledge and information resources, the library:
- Acquires balanced information and knowledge resources to support CIIT’s academic
programmes.
- Provides organized logical and timely access to both local and international books
and information resources;
- Participates in resource sharing programmes, including cooperative purchasing
for all center, mutual library use, interlibrary loan, and document delivery.
To provide the infrastructure for support of its users’ needs the library:
- Plans and provides the technological structure in the shape of books, periodicals
and journals needed to meet changing information and users needs;
- Provides well-equipped and safe facilities that encourage study and earning;
- Maintains suitable numbers of user stations to support use of printed and networked
media and study rooms’.
- Develops a consistent, easy to use, identifiable interface to library resources
for use in any internet connection location.
As a dynamic organization that evolves to meet changing needs, the library
- Assesses its effectiveness in a variety of ways, including periodic users’ needs
and satisfaction surveys;
- Builds an organizational structure that anticipates changing information technologies
and meets patron needs and expectations;
- Encourages professional awareness and career development of its faculty and support
staff.
CIIT library provides a wide range of up-to-date information using the latest Reference
and Information works, as well as books and periodicals in faculties' subject areas.
Library Information Services offered
Books for Loan
The stock consists of about 16,000 latest books on a variety of subjects. Disciplines
like Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Biosciences, Computer studies,
Business & Management, English Language and Literature, are particularly well
represented, as also general reading such as Psychology, Social Sciences, Pakistan
Study, Travel, Biographies, Fiction, Geography and History etc.
Refference and information services
The library has up-to-date reference books on a wide range of subjects and to a
high degree of specialization. They include encyclopedias, dictionaries, telephone
and other directories, handbooks, university and college prospectuses, atlases and
yearbooks.
Periodicals, Journals & Newspapers
Library has about 30,000 research journals on-line access for the abstracts
and full-texts. Also has a good collection of periodicals, newspapers and CD-ROM
databases, giving most recent information.
Computerized database
Available on CD-ROM provides access to up-to-date information on books, comprehensive
bibliographic information on all types of books.
Pro-active and Current awareness services
Include pro-active information, news flash e-mail messages from library, periodicals
in English Language, technical, professional, management, computer and contents
page service in range of subjects.
International Photocopy Service
This service enables CIIT library users to have access to one of the most comprehensive
collections of serials, reports and conference proceedings in the world- including
1,00000 serials titles in many languages. Photocopies of any items in the collection
may be obtained through library.
International Loan Service
The library also operates an International Loan service, which provides access to
books not available locally
Books information service
Library offers users access to up-to-date information on books. Subject bibliographies
can be obtained on request. We can also provide information on USA, Pakistan and
British publishers and the book trade and on the availability of British and American
books in Pakistan.
Reservation
Any book in the catalogue can be reserved. You will be notified when the book is
available.
