Graduate Admissions
All academic departments of CIIT provide exceptional facilities for conducting research work leading to MS and PhD degrees. These facilities include, among others, good libraries, well equipped laboratories, state-of-the-technology computer labs, internet access, and an atmosphere for learning and research. A graduate scholar has unqualified access to all facilities available in either the concerned department or in other allied departments of CIIT.
The broad objectives of these programs are not only to keep pace with the expanding frontiers of knowledge but also to provide research training relevant to the present social and economic uplift of the country.
Primarily, a program leading to MS/PhD should impart education and training to a scholar in the area of interest for pursuing graduate studies, to inculcate in the student a spirit for learning, and develop in him faculties of observation, critical assessment, hypothesis testing and report writing. Graduate Programs at CIIT have been tailored to equip scholars with the necessary skills required to successfully accomplish all these tasks.
MS Degree
The scholar has to complete a minimum of 30 credit hours for MS degree, out of which he/she has to undertake minimum 24 credit hours of course work and 06 credit hours of MS thesis.
PhD Degree
A PhD scholar shall be required to complete 18 credit hours of graduate level course work. The registration of PhD thesis of 09 credit hours will be after the completion of coursework of PhD.

Eligibility for Admission

MS: |
i) A 16 years degree in the relevant field from an accredited
educational institution with first division (annual system) or
CGPA2.5/4.0 (semester system) with no third division or D
grade throughout the academic career.
ii) NTS GAT(General) with 50 % marks.

Phd: |
i) An MS/M.Phil with thesis of 06 credit hrs or its equivalent degree with thesis of 06 credit hrs, in the relevant field from an accredited educational institution with minimum CGPA of 3.0/4.0(under semester system) or 70% marks (under conventional system), with no third division (annual system) or D grade( semester system) throughout the academic career.
ii) GRE (Subject) as per HEC policy or NTS GAT (Subject) with 60% marks.

How to Apply
Following Documents must be attached with the Admission Form
* Demand Draft of Rs.1000 in favor of CIIT,Islamabad from any bank.
* Two attested copies of all academic degrees/certificates.
* Copy of NIC / B form.
* Pictures (two).
* Valid GAT Result (photocopy) [if test already given].
* Paid original GAT Challan Form, [if GAT test is not given].
* Hope Certificate/Affidavit (To be notarized on Rs. 20/- Stamp Paper) mandatory for result awaiting applicants only.
* Any other relevant documents.

Interview
The list of candidates short listed for interview is displayed on the Campus/Departmental Notice Boards. The selected candidates are required to appear before the Departmental Admission Committee for interview and final selection.
The overall merit list is prepared by combining the weighted marks obtained in the previous public examinations with the marks obtained in the NTS test and interview.
The final merit list is displayed on the departmental Notice Boards as well as CIIT website. The successful candidates will also be informed through telephone or email. However, the applicants are advised to keep in touch with the concerned department or visit CIIT website for latest information.
